Defense has always been a staple at Kirkwood in head coach Kim Muhl's 36 seasons and Sunday was another prime example of that.
The Eagles (11-0 / 4-0) frustrated DMACC in the first quarter, as they held the Bears scoreless in the opening quarter and took a 17-0 lead after a quarter.
The defensive pressure did not let up in the second quarter, as DMACC went 1-32 (3.1%) from the floor in the first half.
Kirkwood's offense struggled to get going as well, however, they still owned a 24-5 lead at halftime.
The Eagles finally got their offense rolling in the third quarter when they took a 52-17 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Sophomores Kayilah Sain & Jariah Harris both scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds a piece.
Sophomore Jenna Twedt also finished in double figures with 12 points.
The Eagle's defense caused havoc all game long scoring 23 points off 23 DMACC turnovers.
For the game, Kirkwood held DMACC to 10-63 (15.9%) shooting from the floor, including 2-24 (8.3%) from three-point range.
The Eagles have one more game prior to Christmas, as they travel to Mason City to face off against NIACC on Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
