Six Kirkwood Players Named All-Region

Cedar Rapids, IA- The ICCAC Women's Basketball All-Region teams were selected and announced on Thursday after crowning two champions earlier in the week.

Kirkwood dominated the regular season and it showed in the postseason awards list taking three of the four special awards and placing six players on the All-Region list.

The ICCAC's Player of the Year was Jenna Twedt. Last year's Newcomer of the Year took the next step and was the top player on the top team this season. She was the league leader in the conference play, scoring 322 points in 18 games for a 17.9 average, second-highest among qualified players.

Twedt is a known sharpshooter, knocking down a league-best 65 threes in ICCAC competition at a 43.6% clip, second-best in the conference. Efficiently, she was top 10 in all three field goal percentage categories shooting 47.8% from the field (7th) and 84.1% from the line (3rd).

Along with her scoring, Twedt averaged 2.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists.

She becomes the third Eagle to win the award since it began in 2017-18, joining Tasia Jordan (2022-23) and Ashley Tull (2021-22).

Her teammate and fellow First Team selection was also tagged with Newcomer of the Year honors. Sophomore transfer Kaliyah Sain earned the honor Twedt did a year ago.

Sain was the team's second-leading scorer at 15.2 per game in conference play and was top 10 in field goals made (102), field goal percentage (50) and three-point percentage (39.2).

Rounding out the First Team selections from Kirkwood was sophomore forward Lizzy Puot. The Region 11-A Tournament MVP averaged 11.7 points in conference play and 12.4 on the season. She was seventh in the conference in rebounding at 7.5 per game and had the league's best field goal percentage making 57.4% of her shots.

Freshman Olivia Wren and sophomore Ella Pritchard were named Second Team All-Region and sophomore Jariah Harris was named Third Team All-Region.

Head Coach Kim Muhl was named the 2024-25 Coach of the Year after leading the Eagles to a perfect 18-0 conference record. It was the first time a team has gone undefeated in conference since 2022 when the Eagles went 20-0.

Kirkwood is on a 51-game winning streak heading into the District Championship and looking to repeat as NJCAA National Champions and third in the last four seasons.

This is Muhl's sixth Coach of the Year award since it began in 2017-18, and the fifth-straight year that he has received the honor.

Kirkwood (30-0) hosts United Tribes Tech on Saturday at 1:00 pm in the North Central B District  Championship. The winner advances to the NJCAA National Tournament in Joplin, MO.
