#1 Kirkwood Shows Out on Sophomore Day

Five sophomores finished in double figures on Sophomore Day as Kirkwood defeated Iowa Lakes 80-33 Saturday afternoon at Johnson Hall.
Sophomore Kaliyah Sain scored nine points in the opening quarter to help Kirkwood take a 25-10 lead after a quarter of play.
Offensively the Eagles (27-0 / 17-0) struggled in the second quarter, as they scored a season low eight points in the quarter, but still held a 33-20 lead at halftime.
Sophomore Jenna Twedt propelled the offense in the third quarter with 13 points in the quarter helping the Eagles bust open the game and take a 56-29 lead into the fourth quarter.
Twedt led the way for the Eagles with 19 points, including 5-8 from three.
Sain added 16 points, while sophomore Lizzy Puot finished with her fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Sophomore Ella Pritchard chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds and Ellah Kissell was the fifth sophomore in double figures as she came off the bench to finish with 10 points.
As they have done in almost every game this season, Kirkwood dominated the boards outrebounding Iowa Lakes 42-18 and outscored them 30-16 in the paint.
Kirkwood concludes the regular season on Wednesday when they travel to Boone to face DMACC at 5:30 pm.
