With their 71-50 road victory over DMACC on Wednesday night the top ranked Kirkwood Eagles managed to accomplish something that has been done only once before in program history - finish the regular season undefeated!
The Eagles (28-0 /18-0) got started a little slow offensively, but still managed to hold a a 17-12 lead after a quarter of play.
As they have done all season long, defense led the way for Kirkwood as they took a 34-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Eagles managed to outscore DMACC 23-12 in the third quarter and stretch their lead to 57-34 heading into the fourth quarter.
Sophomore Lizzy Puot led the way with a career-high 23 points.
Sophomore Kaliyah Sain scored 14 points, while sophomore Ella Pritchard added 13 points and sophomore Jenna Twedt was the fourth Eagles player in double figures with 11 points.
The Eagles, who rank second nationally giving up only 42.8 points per game, held their 21st opponent on the season to 50 points or less.
Kirkwood earned the #1 seed in Region 11-A and will host #8 seed Marshalltown on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm at Johnson Hall.
