Wedeking keeps sailing along for Eagles

WEST BURLINGTON - Kori Wedeking has emerged as one of the top softball pitchers in the country this season.

Wedeking tossed another masterpiece Wednesday as the seventh-ranked Kirkwood Eagles tamed Southeastern, 3-1, in the first game of an ICCAC doubleheader in West Burlington.

Southeastern took the second game, 5-3.

Wedeking (9-1) is tied for second in NJCAA Division II with her nine victories and has a 1.27 earned run average.

Brooke Kilburg went 2-for-3 in the leadoff spot and scored twice for the Eagles in the 3-1 victory. Peggy Klingler and Sydney Albaugh had RBIs.

Albaugh had two hits in the 5-3 setback in Game 2. Kilburg scored two more runs. Emilee Linder had two RBIs.

Kirkwood is 16-5 overall and 5-1 in the conference. Southeastern is 12-5 overall and 3-3 in the league.
