#3 Kirkwood Beats Hawkeye in 5

Waterloo, IA- The third ranked Kirkwood Eagles traveled to Waterloo on Wednesday for another ICCAC matchup, this time against the Hawkeye Redtails. Kirkwood who is 5-0 in the ICCAC looked to continue its winning ways. 

The match started off quickly with Kirkwood taking the first set 25-13. However, the night would turn out to be a back and forth battle for the Eagles. Kirkwood would drop the 2nd set by a score of 25-21 and bounce back in the 3rd with a 25-18 win. The 4th set would be as close at 11-10, but the Redtails would end up riding a large service run to take the 4th, 25-13. Kirkwood would come out in the 4th with an aggressive pace behind the serving of sophomore setter, Sydney Matthias. They would close out the match, 15-4. 

Freshman Kaci Johnson continued her impressive streak of triple-doubles. She hit .625 on 24 total attacks with 15 kills and 0 errors. Johnson also put up 16 assists and 10 digs to go with the 15 kills. Freshman middle, Chloe. Baez, was also extremely efficient, hitting .556 on 9 attacks with 5 kills. Sophomore setter Sydney Matthias would add 3 service aces, 21 assists, and 9 digs of her own. 

Kirkwood travels to Boone this Saturday to take on Bismarck State and #12 Illinois Central.
