NO.8 EAGLES WIN 3 MATCHES AT OWT
Rockford, Ill. - The eighth-ranked Kirkwood Eagles won three matches at the McHenry County Tournament and came within a whisker of having a perfect weekend.
The Eagles blanked Waubonsee 3-0, topped 11th-ranked Grand Rapids, 3-1, and defeated Kansas City, 3-1, in their first three matches Friday and Saturday before dropping a five-set nailbiter to Terra State, 3-2.
Kirkwood and Terra State traded victories in the first four sets, but Terra State won the decisive round 15-13.
Rachel Nelson began the 2021 season by collecting 155 assists and 38 digs in the tournament. Emily Strauss finished with 63 kills and 41 digs.
Kamara Dickerson had a big tournament with 86 digs and 48 kills. Katie Kopriva provided 42 kills. Takoa Kopriva had 51 digs, Macy Akers 18 digs and Jada Golden-Smith 16 kills.
