Eagles top No.14 Lincoln Land in tough field

The Kirkwood women's volleyball team finished with a 1-3 record against rugged competition in its own tournament this weekend at Johnson Hall.

The eighth-ranked Eagles tasted victory with a 3-0 victory over 14th-ranked Lincoln Land. The Eagles lost to third-ranked Sauk Valley (3-0), fifth-ranked Johnson County (3-2) and 10th-ranked McHenry County (3-2), leaving them with a 12-5 record for the season.

Emily Strauss led Kirkwood with 47 kills in the four matches. Kamara Dickerson had 45 kills and Katie Kopriva 38.

Rachael Nelson accumulated 138 assists during the weekend. Dickerson made 67 digs and Takoa Kopriva provided 55. Jada Golden-Smith added 12 blocks for the Eagles.
