NO.6 EAGLES SPLIT AT ILLINOIS CENTRAL
EAST PEORIA, Ill. - The sixth-ranked Kirkwood women's volleyball team split two matches at the Illinois Central triangular Saturday.
The Eagles lost to Illinois Central, 3-1, and bounced back with a 3-0 conquest of Lake Land Community College. The split left Kirkwood at 20-9 for the campaign.
Emily Strauss collected 19 kills in the 25-15, 25-21, 24-26, 25-16 loss to Illinois Central. Kamara Dickerson and Jada Golden-Smith had nine kills apiece. Katie Kopriva had eight.
Rachael Nelson, who ranks third in NJCAA Division II in assists, dished out 41 of them against Illinois Central. Takoa Kopriva finished with 21 digs. Katie Kopriva provided 15 digs, Dickerson 13, Nelson 13, and Emma Link 12. Katie Kopriva blocked five shots.
Kirkwood swept Lake Land, 25-14, 25-14, 25-13. Dickerson led the way with 11 kills. Strauss had nine kills, Katie Kopriva eight, and Golden-Smith eight.
Nelson had 32 more assists. Dickerson made 10 digs. Golden-Smith blocked five shots.
