NO.13 EAGLES CLAIM REGIONAL TITLE

WATERLOO - The Kirkwood Eagles got a heavy measure of revenge against Hawkeye Community College Sunday afternoon.

The 13th-ranked Eagles swept 10th-ranked Hawkeye, 25-19, 25-22, 25-19, to capture the Region XI-B volleyball title in Waterloo.

Just four days earlier, Hawkeye had trimmed Kirkwood 3-2 in the final match of the ICCAC regular season Wednesday in Waterloo.

Kirkwood (25-12) advances to the district tournament Saturday at the Region 16 champion. The district champion will advance to the NJCAA Division II national tournament in Cedar Rapids Nov. 18.20.

Kamara Dickerson and Katie Kopriva led the Eagles with 12 kills Sunday. Dickerson also made seven digs and Kopriva had five digs.

Emily Strauss provided eight kills. Rachael Nelson collected 37 assists. Takoa Kopriva made 16 digs and Emma Link had 12.

Kirkwood swept Northeast Community College, 3-0, in the regional semifinals Saturday.
