NO.3 EAGLES RAISE RECORD TO 15-2
The third-ranked Kirkwood women's volleyball team raised its record to 15-2 this past weekend by compiling a 3-1 record in the Kirkwood Invitational at Johnson Hall.
The Eagles defeated Illinois Central (3-0) and Central-Columbus (3-1) on Friday. Kirkwood was swept by top-ranked Johnson County (3-0) on Saturday, then bounced back with a five-set victory over Lincoln Land (3-2) in the final match of the tournament.
Lexi Hearn led the Eagles with 14 kills in the 25-21, 25-15, 25-14 victory over Illinois Central. Gracie Ehret had 20 assists. Sierra Marshall made 19 digs.
Allison Bonnette sparked Kirkwood with 14 kills against Central-Columbus. Ehret collected 34 assists. Marshall made 17 digs in the 17-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-17 verdict. Alyssa Tegeler blocked eight shots.
The Eagles fell to top-ranked Johnson County, 25-22, 27-25, 25-18. Ava Morris had 10 kills. Ehret added 26 more assists. Marshall had 16 digs.
Morris provided 12 kills and Tegeler had 11 in the 24-26, 25-11, 14-25, 25-17, 15-11 comeback victory over Lincoln Land. Ehret rolled up 38 assists. Marshall made 18 digs. Tegeler blocked five shots.
