NO.7 EAGLES CLAIM REGIONAL TITLE

The seventh-ranked Kirkwood women's volleyball team nudged DMACC, 3-2, Wednesday night to capture the junior college regional title at Johnson Hall.
 
The Eagles (33-8) will host Metropolitan Community College Saturday at 1 p.m. in the district finals, with the winner advancing to the NJCAA Division II national tournament at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse in Cedar Rapids on Nov. 17-19.
 
It was a see-saw match at Johnson Hall. Kirkwood dominated the first and third sets, while DMACC dominated the second and fourth sets. The Eagles took the showdown in the final set, 15-12.
 
Lexi Hearn and Alyssa Tegeler led Kirkwood with 13 kills apiece. Gracie Ehret enjoyed a big night with 51 assists. Sierra Marshall made 29 digs and Bri Justsen blocked eight shots.
 
Ava Morris, Alyssa Tegeler, Sierra Marshall, and Gracie Ehret (MVP) were all selected to the All-Tournament Team.
