EAGLES SPLIT WITH NO.1 DMACC

BOONE, Iowa - The ninth-ranked Kirkwood softball team split a conference doubleheader with top-ranked DMACC Monday in Boone.
 
Grace Lubben belted a grand slam and Reagan Schutte also socked a home run as the Eagles took the first game, 9-3. Emilee Linder, Chelsea Buck, and Austyn Crees had two hits for Kirkwood.
 
Freshman Kara Maiers (4-2) was the winning pitcher.
 
DMACC trimmed Kirkwood, 2-1, in the nightcap. Crees hit a home run for the Eagles. Payton Akers (3-5) was the hard-luck losing pitcher.
 
DMACC swept Kirkwood on Sunday and won the series, 3-1. The Bears are 21-2 overall and 3-1 in the ICCAC conference. Kirkwood is 11-9 overall and 1-3 in the league.
