
KCC SOFTBALL ROLLS INTO WORLD SERIES
MILES CITY, Mont. - The Kirkwood softball team dominated Miles Community College in the district tournament Saturday in Montana and earned another berth to the NJCAA Division II World Series.
The 11th-ranked Eagles (44-15) defeated Miles, 10-1 and 11-0, to qualify for the World Series in Oxford, Ala., May 24-28. Both games lasted only five innings.
Neveah Hildebrandt belted two home runs and Brooke Kilburg also connected for a round-tripper in the 10-1 conquest in the first game. Hildebrandt went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs. Kilburg was 2-for-3 with two runs and five RBIs. Alecea Mendoza had two hits.Reagan Schutte scored twice.
Kori Wedeking (19-5, 1.79) tossed a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
Hildebrandt and Schutte socked home runs in the 11-0 triumph in Game 2. Hildebrandt went 2-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs. Schutte was 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBIs. Peggy Klingler drove in two
runs. Emilee Linder was 2-for-3. Grace Lubben and Austyn Crees scored twice.
Payton Akers (17-8, 2.24) pitched a three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts.
