NO.11 EAGLES TAKE CARE OF MARSHALLLTOWN
The 11th-ranked Kirkwood softball team swept a doubleheader from Marshalltown, 7-1 and 14-1, at the Kirkwood field Monday.
The Eagles raised their overall record to 39-15. Marshalltown fell to 7-43.
Grace Lubben belted a home run and drove in two runs in the 7-1 victory in the opener. Alecea Mendoza went 3-for-4 with two doubles and scored three times. Reagan Schutte was 2-for-2. Neveah Hildebrandt drove in two runs. Kara Maiers (8-2) pitched a complete game.
Hildebrandt went 4-for-4 with a homer, two RBIs and scored three times in the 14-1 triumph. Chelsea Buck also socked a home run and drove in four runs. Lubben was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Brooke Kilburg was 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Austyn Crees had two hits. Payton Akers (15-8) got the victory in relief.
