Posted: May 11, 2022

The Division II Region XI Softball All-Region teams were announced on Wednesday along with special recognitions for Offensive Player, Defensive Player, Pitcher and Coach of the Year Awards.

Kirkwood landed three players to the First Team this season, including two players earning special awards.

Pitcher Kori Wedeking was selected to the First Team and was also named the Pitcher of the year in Division II. Wedeking led the conference in ERA (1.35) while adding eight wins and only allowing 11 earned runs all season. This is Wedeking's second year being selected to the First Team and earning Pitcher of the Year.

Wedeking's catcher this season, Peggy Klingler, was a First Team selection this season for her solid work behind the dish, finishing with a fielding percentage of .991 while only giving up one error in conference play. In conference play she tied for the third-most home runs (9), the fifth most RBI (31) and finished conference play with an average .420.

Two other Kirkwood Eagles joined the First Team in infielder Emilee Linder and outfielder Grace Lubben

Linder was speedy on the bases this season with the sixth-most stolen bases (8) and had the seventh most doubles with eight.

Lubben added a lot of offense for the Eagles in conference play this season with the fourth-most RBI (32), fifth-most home runs (8) and had the fifth-highest SLG% (.908)

Also of note, Kirkwood utility player Austyn Crees was selected as the Defensive Player of the Year as well as earning a Second Team All-Region designation. Crees played a mix of the infield as well as catcher this season and finished with a conference fielding percentage of .979.

DMACC has the most selections this year with seven First Team All-Region selections after a 22-2 record in ICCAC play. The Bears are also the current No. 1 ranked team in Division II with an overall record of 46-3.

Leading off the selections for DMACC were utility player and Offensive Player of the Year Emma Dighton. Dighton was been a monster at the plate this season and is currently tied for the most home runs in Division II (25) while adding 86 RBI's, good enough for second in Division II. Dighton went on an impressive one-week run this season hitting seven home runs and batted in 29 runs in the course of seven days.

The Bears' leading pitcher this season was Abby Flanagan, who finished second in the conference in ERA (1.35) on only six earned runs this season. She also picked up seven wins for the Bears. This is her second time being selected as First Team All-Region.

Two DMACC infielders also made the First Team this season in Sami Miller and Madison Kearns.

Miller finished with the third most RBI's (46) and the seventh-best average in conference play (.507) while adding 10 doubles and eight home runs. Kearns finished tied for eighth in conference play in homers (7) and finished with a batting average of .455 in 55 at-bats.

Outfielders Kendall Clark and Abby Husak were First Team selections this season for their standout work this season. Clark is arguably the best hitter in the nation this season with the most RBI this season (96) to date and is currently tied for the most home runs (25) and the fourth-highest average (.565).

Husak was also extremely productive at the plate for the Bears this season with the seventh-highest average in Division II (.536) and finished conference play with an OBP of .638.

Iowa Lakes lands two infielders and one outfielder to the First Team this season.

In the infield, Bryn Bohmann was a big bat for the Lakers this season after finishing tied for third in conference home runs (9) and finished conference play with a .500 batting average.

Fellow infielder Eliya Johnson finished just behind Bohmann in conference home runs with eight and finished tied for eighth in the conference in RBI (30).
