NO.9 KCC SOFTBALL TEAM WIN 10 STRAIGHT

The ninth-ranked Kirkwood softball dominated Ellsworth in a four-game series and outscored the Panthers, 58-4, with 10 home runs Monday and Tuesday at the Kirkwood field.
 
The Eagles, riding a 10-game winning streak, raised their records to 21-9 overall and 9-3 in the ICCAC conference, just one game behind DMACC in the league standings. Ellsworth fell to 10-14 overall and 4-4 in the conference.
 
Kirkwood swept the first doubleheader Monday, 21-1 and 13-2, with both games lasting only five innings. The onslaught continued Tuesday, 16-1 and 8-0.
 
Grace Lubben, Emilee Linder, Brooke Kilburg, and Austyn Crees belted home runs in the 21-1 victory Monday. Kilburg collected five RBIs. Lubben and Linder had four RBIs. Kori Wedeking pitched a one-hitter.
 
Linder, Crees, and Chelsea Buck connected for homers in the 13-2 verdict Monday. Linder went 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Kennedy Hill was 3-for-3. Payton Akers tossed three innings for the victory.
 
Linder hit a home run for the third straight game in the 16-1 victory Tuesday. Lubben also belted a homer. Akers (8-5, 2.06) struck out 11 batters.
 
Reagan Schutte hit the 10th homer for Kirkwood during the four-game series with a round-tripper in the 8-0 victory Tuesday. Wedeking (8-2, 2.48) tossed a one-hitter.
