NO.8 KCC SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH TRITONS

The eighth-ranked Kirkwood softball team split a four-game series with Iowa Central this weekend.
 
The split left the Eagles at 32-14 overall and 18-6 in the ICCAC conference. The Tritons went home Sunday at 30-16 overall and 11-9 in the league.
 
Kori Wedeking (14-4, 1.91) pitched a pair of complete games with an 8-2 victory Saturday and a 9-2 verdict Sunday when the Eagles exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth.
 
Payton Akers (11-8, 2.85) took the loss in both games, including a 10-2 setback Saturday and an 8-4 defeat Sunday when Iowa Central scored seven runs in the seventh.
 
Peggy Klingler hit home runs in the first three games of the series. She is hitting .388 with 15 homers and 50 RBIs. Alecea Mendoza belted two homers in Game 1 Saturday and is hitting .370 with 10 homers and 49 RBIs.
 
Grace Lubben, Annie Gahan and Austyn Crees also hit home runs during the weekend for Kirkwood.
