KCC baseball team sweeps Lewis & Clark

GODFREY, Ill. - The Kirkwood Eagles finally had some fun at the ballpark Sunday.

The Eagles swept a doubleheader from Lewis & Clark, 11-0 and 21-8, after starting the college baseball season with six straight losses.

Rian Yates and Sam Goodman combined on a one-hitter in the 11-0 victory in the opener. Yates (1-1) pitched the first three innings and allowed the lone hit. Goodman tossed the last two frames.

Andrew Nord, Cade Moss and Chase Moseley hit home runs for Kirkwood in Game 1. Moss had four RBIs and Moseley drove in three runs.

Kirkwood trailed, 8-4, after two innings of the nightcap, but the Eagles exploded for 11 runs in the third inning and tacked on six more runs in the fourth for the 21-8 verdict.

Lorenz Elion and Andrue Henry belted home runs for Kirkwood. Moseley collected five more RBIs and Elion also chased home five runs. Elion and Justin Martinez had four hits.

Tyler Tscherter (1-0) tossed three shutout innings in relief for the victory, allowing just one hit.

Lewis & Clark swept a doubleheader from Kirkwood on Saturday, 5-2 and 7-1.
