Pendergast, Moseley power KCC baseball

 
Alex Pendergast and Chase Moseley enjoyed big games for the Kirkwood baseball team Saturday.

Pendergast slugged two homers and drove in seven runs as the Eagles topped Iowa Central, 10-5, in the first game of an ICCAC doubleheader at the Kirkwood field.

Moseley socked two homers and drove in six runs as the Eagles lost to the Tritons, 19-8, in the nightcap.

The setback in Game 2 snapped an 11-game winning streak for Kirkwood and left the Eagles at 31-18 overall and 27-11 in the league. Iowa Central is 31-17 overall and 23-13 in the conference.

Pendergast lofted a three-run homer in the first inning of the opener and hit a two-run shot in the second inning. He added an RBI double later in the ballgame.

Moseley was 2-for-4 in Game 1 with two RBIs. Josh Fitzgerald was 2-for-4 and scored twice. Trevor Burkhart and Cade Moss also scored twice.

Reece Beuter (4-2) pitched five strong innings for the victory. He allowed two earned runs on three hits, with seven strikeouts and three walks. Frankie Cresta collected the last four outs for his sixth save.

Moseley finished 3-for-4 with two runs, two homers and six RBIs in the nightcap. Burkhart was 3-for-4 and scored twice.
