KCC baseball riding 8-game streak
ESTHERVILLE - The Kirkwood baseball team is flying high.
The Eagles are riding an eight-game winning streak after sweeping Iowa Lakes, 14-0 and 18-4, in an ICCAC doubleheader in Iowa Falls on Monday.
Kirkwood is now 28-17 overall and tied for second place in the conference with a 24-10 mark.
Cade Moss and Andrue Henry had three hits in the 14-0 conquest in Game 1. Alex Pendergast, Joel Vaske, Andrew Nord, Henry and Brook Heinen drove in two runs. Pendergast, Nord and Kyle Moeder had two hits.
Luke Llewellyn (4-2) allowed just one hit in five innings, with eight strikeouts and two walks.
Vaske was 3-for-4 with three RBIs in the 18-4 verdict in the nightcap. Josh Fitzgerald was 3-for-5 and belted a home run. Tyler Tscherter was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Moeder was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Parker Shupe went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Evan Paulus belted a home run.
Caleb Fuller (2-0) tossed four strong innings for the victory. He allowed one run on four hits, with seven strikeouts and one walk.
