KCC baseball team sweeps NIACC

Cedar Rapids - The Kirkwood baseball got strong pitching Wednesday and swept a conference doubleheader from NIACC, 4-1 and 10-2.

The twin-killing lifted the Eagles to 10-13 overall and 6-6 in the ICCAC conference. NIACC fell to 7-10 overall and 2-8 in the league.

Tyler Tscherter (2-0) tossed a solid game for Kirkwood in the opener.  He went 6 1/3 innings and allowed one unearned run on five hits with four strikeouts.  Frankie Cresta got the final two outs for his first save.

Trevor Burkhart, Andrue Henry and Cade Moss had two hits for the Eagles in Game 1. Burkhart scored twice.

Sam Goodman (2-0) tossed five innings in the 10-2 victory in the nightcap. He allowed one earned run on three hits, with seven strikeouts and one walk. Tucker Christensen pitched scoreless innings in relief.

Parker Shupe went 2-for-2 with two runs, a homer, two RBIs and three walks in the second game. Alex Pendergast was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Chase Moseley had two hits and scored two runs. Casey Sole had two hits and Kyle Moeder scored twice.
