EAGLES OUSTED AT NJCAA WORLD SERIES

ENID, Okla. - The Kirkwood Eagles were trimmed by Patrick Henry, 7-6, in a losers bracket game at the NJCAA Division II World Series Tuesday and were eliminated from the event.

Kirkwood went 2-2 at the tournament and finished the season with a 44-22 record.

The Eagles took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a three-run homer by Casey Sole and added another run for a 6-4 advantage, but Patrick Henry tied the score 6-6 in the top of the seventh and scored the go-ahead run in the eighth.

Kirkwood staged some magnificent rallies this season, but the Eagles were not able to respond in their final game of the year.

Kirkwood lost in the first round of the World Series but responded with two victories in the losers bracket to stave off elimination. The Eagles belted Lincoln Land, the No. 2 seed, 12-0 earlier Tuesday before facing Patrick Henry.

Caleb Fuller pitched a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the 12-0 victory over Lincoln Land. Joel Vaske went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Alex Pendergast was 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs.
