Kirkwood baseball splits with SCC
The Kirkwood Eagles belted six home runs Wednesday and split an ICCAC doubleheader with Southeastern.
Josh Fitzgerald socked two homers as the Eagles dropped the first game, 19-8, on a cold, blustery day at the Kirkwood field.
Casey Sole hit two home runs and drove in five runs as the Eagles grabbed the nightcap, 12-4.
The split left Kirkwood at 8-9 overall and 4-2 in the conference. Southeastern, which is ranked No. 4, is now 14-4 overall and 4-2 in the league.
Joel Vaske and Kyle Moeder walloped home runs for Kirkwood in the 19-8 loss in the opener and had two RBIs. Alex Pendergast went 4-for-4 and scored twice.
Andrue Henry drove in three runs for the Eagles in the 12-4 verdict in Game 2. Chase Moseley had two RBIs. Vaske and Moeder scored twice.
Sam Goodman (1-0) allowed four runs in 5 1/3 innings for his first victory of the season.
