Baseball team runs streak to 10 straight
The Kirkwood baseball team is sitting on a 10-game winning streak after sweeping Marshalltown, 6-0 and 10-4, in an ICCAC doubleheader at Kirkwood Wednesday.
The Eagles are 30-17 overall and 26-10 in the league, good for second place in the overall standings behind Iowa Western. Marshalltown fell to 11-35 overall and 8-30.
Tucker Christensen (3-1) pitched six strong innings in the 6-0 victory in Game 1. He allowed five hits with four strikeouts.
Josh Fitzgerald and Andrew Nord belted home runs in the opener. Nord was 2-for-3 with four RBIs. Fitzgerald scored twice.
Joel Vaske went 3-for-5 with two runs, a double, home-run and five RBIs in the second game. Andrue Henry went 3-for-4 with three doubles. Fitzgerald and Trevor Burkhart also had three hits. Burkhart scored three runs. Kyle Moeder was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Cade Moss scored twice.
Graysen Drezek (1-3) picked up the victory with 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief.
