Llewellyn tosses no-hitter for Eagles

Luke Llewellyn pitched a no-hitter Saturday as the Kirkwood Eagles blanked Iowa Lakes, 8-0, to win the opening round of the regional tournament at Kirkwood.

Reece Beuter tossed a two-hit shutout in the first game Saturday as Kirkwood dumped Iowa Lakes, 10-0, in five innings.

Kirkwood (36-19) will play in the Final 4 of the regional tournament Friday at 4 p.m. at Mount Mercy.

Llewellyn (4-2) struck out nine batters and walked two in the seven-inning game. Justin Martinez went 2-for-4 and Joel Vaske scored twice.

Alex Pendergast and Kyle Moeder were 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the first game. Vaske drove in two runs and Josh Fitzgerald scored twice.

Iowa Lakes finished the season with a 6-52 record.
