NO.11 KCC SOFTBALL SWEEPS NORTHEAST

The 11th-ranked Kirkwood softball team swept a four-game series against Northeast Community College the past two days at Kirkwood.
 
The Eagles raised their records to 27-8 overall and 12-0 in the ICCAC.
 
The Kirkwood pitchers excelled as the Eagles won the four games 8-0, 6-0, 7-3 and 14-0.
 
Kara Maiers tossed a one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in the 8-0 victory in the first game Sunday. Emilee Linder went 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two runs and three RBIs.
 
Sailor Hall twirled a three-hit shutout with four strikeouts in the 6-0 verdict in Game 2 on Sunday. Brooke Kilburg and Annie Gahan drove in two runs. Sydney Roe had two hits.
 
Maiers (8-5) struck out eight batters in the 7-3 triumph in the first game Monday. Linder hit a home run and drove in two runs. Hall had two hits and two RBIs. Kilburg had two more RBIs. Grace Lubben and Gahan had two hits.
 
Sailor (12-2) pitched a two-hit shutout in the 14-0 romp in Game 2 Monday. Peggy Klingler socked two homers, went 3-for-3 and collected four RBIs. Roe had two hits and three RBIs. Linder contributed two hits and two RBIs. Gahan had two hits.
