NO.16 KCC SOFTBALL SWEEPS NO.8 DMACC

The 16th-ranked Kirkwood softball team evened the score with eighth-ranked DMACC Monday at Kirkwood.
 
The Bears swept an ICCAC doubleheader from the Eagles Friday, but Kirkwood battled back and swept both games Monday to regain control of the conference race.
 
Kirkwood raised its record in the ICCAC to 18-2 with the sweep. NIACC sits in second place at 12-2, with DMACC in third place at 10-6.
 
The Eagles rallied for two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win the first game Monday, 5-4, after DMACC had taken a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth in extra innings.
 
Grace Lubben and Emily Linder, batting 1-2 in the lineup, did much of the damage in the opener Monday. Lubben went 3-for-4 with three runs and a homer. Linder was 2-for-4 with a home run. Brooke Kilburg was 2-for-4.
 
Kara Maiers (12-6) pitched a complete game in the 5-4 triumph and allowed only one earned run.
 
Chelsea Buck smashed two homers and drove in eight big runs in the 10-1 victory in five innings in the second game Monday. She went 3-for-3. Peggy Klingler was 2-for-3, while Neveah Hildebrandt and Brooke Kilburg scored twice.
 
Sailor Hall (14-3) tossed a complete game with five strikeouts.
 
DMACC swept Friday's doubleheader, 4-1 and 4-2 in nine innings. Lubben was 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs in the second game Friday. Linder was 2-for-4.
