No.5 KCC volleyball belts Ellsworth

Cedar Rapids  - The No. 5 ranked Kirkwood volleyball team won its seventh straight match, defeating ICCAC foe Ellsworth in a 3-0 sweep (25-14, 25-12, 25-13).

Anna Gorsich led the Eagles with 11 kills and one ace on the night while hitting .611 from the floor. Emily Straus added eight kills while Kamara Dickerson had six, Katie Kopriva with five, and middle hitters Jada Golden-Smith and Maggie Peters had five and three kills.   Golden-Smith also led the Eagles with four blocks.
 
Rachael Nelson led all players with 22 assists on the night while Brooke Mulholland added 12 assists.  Defensively Allison Pisarcik and Dickerson each had a team-high of 10 digs apiece.
 
As a team, Kirkwood committed just three attack errors in the match as the Eagles hit a combined .475 for the match.
 
The Eagles (7-1 overall record) will be back at it Sunday, Feb. 21,  at Southwestern with first serve set for 1 p.m.
