Stratton sparks No.3 Kirkwood women

BOONE - Karsyn Stratton made a big impression in her first game for the Kirkwood women's basketball team Wednesday night.
 
Stratton, a freshman from Clear Creek Amana High School, scored 20 points as the third-ranked Eagles defeated DMACC, 70-63, in the season opener.
 
Dominique Rodriguez, a freshman from Colorado, popped off the bench and popped in four 3-pointers for all 12 of her points for Kirkwood. Kortney Drake added 10 points. Ashley Tull, who missed all of last season while recovering from knee surgery, scored six points and grabbed six rebounds.
 
Kirkwood trailed, 40-38, at halftime. The Eagles held DMACC to 23 points in the second half to pull away in the ICCAC conference game.
 
Magan Christopherson scored 18 points off the bench for DMACC (0-1).
 
Kirkwood hosts Northeast Community College Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Johnson Hall.
