A short turnaround did not bother the Kirkwood women's basketball team Saturday afternoon.

The second-ranked Eagles smothered Iowa Central, 79-36, in an ICCAC conference game at Johnson Hall.

Kirkwood defeated Southeastern Thursday night, 99-59, and had only one day to prepare for Iowa Central. It did not matter.

The Eagles finished the first half with a 25-0 surge to grab a 48-14 lead at intermission, then scored the first two points of the second half to finish a dominating 27-0 run.

Iowa Central made only one field goal in the second quarter and only one more in the third period in a mismatch.

Kemara Watson led a balanced attack for Kirkwood with 15 points. Ashley Tull finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, and five steals. Maddie Paulson contributed 11 points and Karsyn Stratton had 10.

Kirkwood raised its spotless record to 11-0. The Eagles had 20 steals in the ballgame.

Nevaeh Galloway scored nine points for Iowa Central (4-6). Isabell West, averaging 18 points for the Trojans, scored two points on two free throws as Watson and Tull kept her under wraps all day.
