MOSELEY'S WALK-OFF HOMER LIFTS EAGLES

Chase Moseley was the hero for the Kirkwood Eagles during their three-game series against Iowa Western at chilly Kirkwood Field.

Moseley hit a walk-off homer as the leadoff batter in the bottom of the seventh inning Sunday to give the fifth-ranked Eagles a dramatic 1-0 victory in the first game of an ICCAC doubleheader.

Both teams had only two hits in the ballgame, but Moseley had the only one that counted.

Tucker Christensen allowed two hits in six scoreless innings for Kirkwood. Caleb Banowetz got the first two outs in the top of the seventh and Bryce Schares (2-0) got the final out in the frame. Schares became the winner when Moseley cleared the fence.

Iowa Western won the final two games of the three-game series. The visitors prevailed, 12-10, in the second game of the doubleheader Sunday, then took the final game 12-1 on Monday.

Kyle Hayes went 3-for-4 with a homer, three runs and three RBIs in the 12-10 loss on Sunday. Alex Pendergast was 3-for-6 and scored three times. Cael Frost went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Ryan Nelson also had two RBIs and Parker Shupe had two hits.

Moseley hit a solo homer in the 12-1 setback on Monday.

Kirkwood is 17-6 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
