KCC BASEBALL TOPS INDIAN HILLS TWICE

OTTUMWA - The 11th-ranked Kirkwood baseball team collected a pair of victories during a three-game series at Indian Hills this past weekend.

Indian Hills took the first game of the series Friday, 4-0. Kirkwood responded with an 8-7 verdict in Game 2 Friday, then followed with another 8-7 triumph Saturday.

Chase Moseley went 6-for-11 in the series for the Eagles, raising his batting average to .495 for the campaign.

Kirkwood scored twice in the top of the ninth inning in Game 2 Friday to grab an 8-7 advantage. Bryce Schares (2-1) pitched the final 1.2 innings for the victory. Noah Furcht went 2-for-5 with three RBIs. Moseley was 2-for-4 and scored twice.

Kyle Hayes belted his 10th homer and drove in three runs in the 8-7 victory Saturday. Joe Simpson, Hayes, Moseley and Furcht had two hits. Parker Shupe drove in two runs. Casey Stalzer (2-1) got the win in relief. Schares collected his eighth save, which ranks second in the country in NJCAA Division II.

Kirkwood raised its records to 26-11 overall and 10-7 in the conference. Indian Hills fell to 22-11 overall and 12-6 in the league.
