MOSELEY BIDDING FOR NATIONAL TRIPLE CROWN

Chase Moseley continued his assault on junior college pitching this weekend and is bidding to capture the Triple Crown in NJCAA Division II baseball.
 
Moseley powered the 10th-ranked Eagles to three straight lopsided victories over Iowa Lakes by scores of 17-5, 17-7 and 19-5 at Kirkwood. He ranks second in the nation in hitting at .520 and leads the nation with 17 homers and 61 RBIs.
 
Kirkwood belted 19 homers in the three-game series and tops the nation with 80 home runs in 43 games.
 
Moseley socked three homers and drove in seven runs in the 17-5 victory in the opener Saturday. Cael Frost also hit three homers and drove in five runs. Alex Pendergast and Ryan Nelson also cleared the fences. Jake Matthaidess (5-1) pitched four innings for the victory.
 
Moseley went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs in the 17-7 verdict Saturday. Pendergast, Noah Furcht, Frost and Parker Shupe walloped home runs. Furcht collected five RBIs. Pendergast had four RBIs. Casey Stalzer (3-1) picked up the victory in relief.
 
Moseley finished his big weekend Sunday when he went 2-for-4 with a homer and three more RBIs in the 19-5 conquest. Kirkwood belted eight homers in the game with Pendergast, Furcht, Kyle Hayes, Frost, Nelson, Trenton Burkhalter and Shupe all connecting. Blaine Harpenau (6-2) was the winning pitcher.
 
Kirkwood finished the weekend at 31-12 overall and 15-8 in the ICCAC conference, tied for third place with Iowa Central. Iowa Lakes fell to 10-26 overall and 5-18 in the league.
