HAYES BELTS 3 HOMERS, BUT EAGLES FALL 21-17

Kyle Hayes hit three home runs and drove in seven runs Wednesday, but the Kirkwood Eagles lost a baseball slugfest to NIACC, 21-17, on a windy day at Kirkwood.
 
Zach Sabers went 3-for-6 with a homer and seven RBIs. Noah Furcht was 2-for-4 with a homer, three runs and three RBIs. Lorenz Elion went 4-for-6 and scored three times. Joe Simpson and Chase Moseley had two hits.
 
The loss dropped Kirkwood to 20-9 overall and 4-5 in the ICCAC.
 
Kirkwood used five pitchers in the ballgame. Logan Schmitt (1-1) took the loss in relief.
 
NIACC scored nine runs in the second inning, but Kirkwood responded with seven runs in the bottom of the second to pull within 9-8. NIACC took a 20-16 lead with a seven-run outburst in the sixth.
