NO.11 KCC BASEBALL TEAM WINS SERIES

The Kirkwood baseball team outscored Northeast Community College, 38-4, during their three-game series at Kirkwood this weekend, but the 11th-ranked Eagles were denied a three-game sweep.
 
Northeast trimmed Kirkwood, 3-2, in the first game of their doubleheader Saturday. The Eagles responded with a 26-1 conquest in Game 2 Saturday, then finished the series with a 10-0 victory Sunday.
 
Kyle Hayes hit a home run and drove in two runs for Kirkwood in the 3-2 setback Saturday. Tucker Christensen (3-0, 1.59) allowed only one earned in six innings and did not factor into the decision.
 
Alex Pendergast, Chase Moseley, Lorenz Elion and Zach Sabers all belted home runs in the 26-1 cakewalk in Game 2 Saturday. Pendergast went 4-for-4 with four runs and six RBIs. Moseley and Hayes collected three RBIs. Parker Shupe was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Jake Matthaidess (4-1, 1.78) pitched four innings for the verdict.
 
Joe Simpson and Noah Furcht socked home runs and had three RBIs apiece in the 10-0 stroll Sunday. Blaine Harpenau (5-2, 2.81) pitched six strong innings with eight strikeouts.
 
Kirkwood is 22-10 overall and 6-6 in the conference.
