NO.11 KCC BASEBALL SWEEPS ELLSWORTH

The 11th-ranked Kirkwood baseball swept a conference doubleheader from Ellsworth Tuesday, 10-5 and 18-8 at Kirkwood.
 
The Eagles (24-10, 8-6) rallied to win both games. They trailed 5-0 in the opener before scoring 10 unanswered runs, and they fell behind 7-5 in the nightcap before exploding for 11 runs in their final two at-bats.
 
Joe Simpson, Chase Moseley, and Noah Furcht belted home runs in the 10-5 triumph in the opener. Cael Frost hit two doubles. Simpson, Moseley, and Furcht drove in two runs. Furcht went 3-for-4. Caleb Banowetz (3-0) got the victory in relief.
 
Simpson, Lorenz Elion, Frost, and Parker Shupe socked homers in the 18-8 verdict in Game 2. Frost drove in four runs and Elion had three RBIs. Simpson went 3-for-4. Jake Weissenberger (1-0) collected the win in relief.
 
Ellsworth fell to 6-29 overall and 2-14 in the league.
