SIMPSON SWATS 3 HOMERS AS EAGLES ROLL

IOWA FALLS - Joe Simpson had a day to remember Thursday for the Kirkwood baseball team.

Simpson belted three home runs, collected six RBIs, scored five times and went 4-for-4 as the 10th-ranked Eagles crushed Ellsworth, 19-4, in an ICCAC game in Iowa Falls.

Simpson is batting .381 with six homers and 26 RBIs this season.

Chase Moseley socked his 13th home run of the campaign, tying for second in the nation in NJCAA Division II baseball. He went 3-for-4, with three runs and two RBIs. For the season, he's hitting .500 with 13 home runs and 48 RBIs.

Cael Frost also hit a home run and drove in three runs for Kirkwood, which has hammered 60 homers in 40 games.

Trenton Burkhalter, Parker Shupe and Ryan Nelson had two RBIs. Aidan Rath (2-1) pitched five innings for the victory.

Kirkwood is 28-12 overall and 12-8 in the conference. Ellsworth fell to 7-33 overall and 3-18 in the league.
