NO.9 KCC BASEBALL SPLITS WITH MARSHALLTOWN

 

MARSHALLTOWN - The ninth-ranked Kirkwood baseball team split a doubleheader at Marshalltown Tuesday.
 
The Eagles dropped the opener, 6-5, despite a three-run rally in the top of the seventh. Kirkwood bounced back to grab the nightcap, 13-6.
 
The split left Kirkwood at 32-13 overall and 16-9 in the ICCAC conference. Marshalltown finished the day at 10-31 overall and 7-19 in the league.
 
Joe Simpson went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs in the opener. Cael Frost drove in two runs. Kyle Hayes had two hits. Jake Weissenberger (1-1) took the loss.
 
Chase Moseley went 4-for-5 with three RBIs in the 16-9 victory. He is hitting .522 with 17 homers and 64 RBIs.
 
Parker Shupe was 4-for-5 and scored four runs. Noah Furcht was 3-for-5 with three RBIs. Alex Pendergast went 3-for-5 and scored twice. Hayes was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Simpson scored twice.
 
Cade Turner (1-1) picked up the victory with two scoreless innings in relief. He struck out four batters.
