ICCAC SPRING 2023 PREVIEW | DIVISION II BASEBALL

ICCAC SPRING 2023 PREVIEW | DIVISION II BASEBALL

ICCAC.org Posted: Jan 26, 2023

The ICCAC Division II Baseball league is one of the most competitive leagues from top to bottom year in and year out. Eight teams are back in 2023 (before welcoming Marshalltown to the mix in 2024) to vie for one spot at the NJCAA World Series.

After two years at Mt. Mercy, the Region 11 Tournament moves to Community Field in Burlington, home of the Southeastern Blackhawks. Will fortune favor SCC? Each of the past two seasons in Cedar Rapids, Kirkwood prevailed as Region 11 Champions.

The Eagles again are the 2023 favorites, returning a bunch of talent already destined for NCAA teams next season.

Iowa Central and Southeastern are right behind them in the coaches' poll -- and each is receiving votes in the preseason NJCAA poll as well.

Can NIACC repeat the same success they had last year under their interim head coach? They'll have a new leader in Mason City with hopes of repeating their regular season success, which saw them earn the No. 2 seed at the Region 11 Tournament.

Northeast and DMACC both have had postseason success -- each being one of only four teams to win a postseason game in each of the last four seasons, along with Kirkwood and Southeastern.

Iowa Lakes and Ellsworth look to shake things up after missing out on the six-team regional tournament last year. Will they work their way into the postseason this year?
