Lux and Burkhalter Named ICCAC Athlete's of the Week

Freshman third baseman Jack Lux has been on a tear lately for Kirkwood. Last week, Lux picked up 12 hits in 20 at-bats for an average of .600. He slugged at a rate of 1.150 while hitting two doubles, three homers, 17 RBI, and 11 runs scored. The Eagles went 6-1 over the span of seven games. Since April 12, in 15 games Lux has 27 hits in 48 at-bats for a .526 average. He is on a current hitting streak of 10 games (RBIs in his last 9), with hits in 13 of his last 15. Lux is the current leader in conference batting average at .475. For the season he is hitting .416 with six homers, 36 RBI and 27 runs scored.

Trenton Burkhalter

Last week was a huge week offensively for the Kirkwood Eagles. In seven games, they scored 95 runs, with a run differential of +76 (19 runs allowed). Trenton Burkhalter was one of the leaders of the week. The sophomore catcher had 11 hits in 21 at-bats (.524). He hit three doubles and three home runs and accumulated 17 RBI. He scored 10 runs himself -- aided by five walks in addition to his 11 hits. In 20 conference games this year, Burkhalter is third in the conference in RBI with 36 and sixth in average at .415. His slugging percentage is second highest at .877, and his on-base percentage is .519 -- eighth-best.
