NO.13 KCC BASEBALL SPLITS WITH DMACC

The 13th-ranked Kirkwood baseball team split an ICCAC twin-bill with DMACC Friday at Kirkwood.

The visiting Bears won the opener, 5-4. Kirkwood took the nightcap, 6-1.

The split left Kirkwood at 15-8 overall and 2-2 in the league. DMACC is 13-10 overall and 2-2 in the conference. The two teams are scheduled for another doubleheader Sunday at 2 p.m. at Kirkwood.

The Eagles trailed 5-0 in the fifth inning of the opener. They scored twice in the bottom of the fifth and twice again in the bottom of the sixth, but could not complete the rally.

Noah Furcht and Owen Ross drove in two runs in the first game. Miles Risley scored twice. Alec Nigut pitched five innings and took the loss.

Joe Simpson, Cael Frost and Ross belted home runs in the 6-1 victory in Game 2. Ross was 3-for-4. Alex Ritzer went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Furcht had two hits.

Caden Stoffer (3-0) pitched five strong innings for the victory, allowing one run on five hits.
