#8 Kirkwood Cruises by Grand View JV

Your Kirkwood Men's Basketball kicked off the 2023 season in Johnson Hall, taking on Grand View JV. With a new team and new uniforms, the Eagles caught fire early and never looked back winning the game 91-57.

The hot start for Kirkwood was credited to great teamwork moving the ball around with pace that would eventually create easy buckets, giving them a 14-0 run to start the game. A pair of thunderous dunks from Traijan Sain continued to fuel the offense and the defense, seeing a lead as big as 25 in the first half.

In the second half, Grand View gained some momentum finding ways to chip at the lead but Kirkwood would respond with runs of their own, many of the points coming from Kirkwood's bench. Zach Erwin, after sitting out for 3 years due to injury, provided a significant spark to the Eagle offense in the second half that would propel the team to a 34-point victory.

Kirkwood returns to play tomorrow in Johnson Hall at 6:00 p.m. for a match-up against Elgin Community College.
