#8 Eagles Beat Elgin 112-46

Kirkwood Men's Basketball had a quick turnaround after starting their season with a win Friday. They took on Elgin Community College (IL) in Johnson Hall, looking to go 2-0 to start the season.

The offensive firepower the Eagles had yesterday against Grand View JV carried over in a significant way, giving Kirkwood a 50-22 lead at the half. Elgin, who had averaged 97.0 points through their first two games, was in complete disarray and struggled to find any sort of flow offensively. Their struggle was largely in part to a tenacious defensive effort from all 12 players who entered the game tonight. Coming out of halftime, the Kirkwood coaches were eager to see if their team could have a strong second half after struggling to put away Grand View the night before.

And the Eagles responded. In the second half, Kirkwood held Elgin CC to just 24 points while putting down an impressive 62 points and went on to win the game 112-46.

Kirkwood returns to play next Friday and Saturday where they will hit the road to compete in the John Wood Classic, playing Lake Land College at 5:00 PM on Friday and John Wood CC at 3:00 PM on Saturday.
