#7 Eagles Roll Through Reivers

Cedar Rapids, IA- In a closely contested matchup inside Johnson Hall on Saturday afternoon, the 7th-ranked Kirkwood Eagles secured a hard-fought victory over the Iowa Western Reivers, prevailing with a final score of 69-65. The game remained tightly contested throughout, with the Eagles holding a slim 30-27 lead at halftime before ultimately sealing the win.

Both teams traded blows, resulting in three ties and four lead changes, keeping spectators engaged until the final buzzer. However, it was Kirkwood's dominance on the boards that proved pivotal, as they outrebounded the Reivers 49-31 and capitalized on their presence in the paint to notch 42 points compared to Iowa Western's 28.

Leading the charge for the Eagles was Zach Erwin, who contributed a team-high 21 points. Additionally, Traijan Sain added 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, while James Spencer pulled down an impressive 12 rebounds of his own.

The victory solidifies Kirkwood's position as a contender in the ICCAC, currently tied for 2nd in the conference standings. With their next matchup against NIACC looming on Wednesday in Mason City, the Eagles are focused on maintaining their winning momentum.
