#10 Eagles Roll Past Southwestern at Home

Cedar Rapids, IA- The #10 rank Kirkwood Eagles took on the Southwestern Spartans at home in Johnson Hall on Wednesday night. The first half was played tight between the Eagles and Spartans, with the lead being exchanged between both teams. The second half saw Southwestern take a one point lead at 10:29 left, however, two back-to-back threes by Colby Dolphin allowed the Eagles to get some space and eventually pull away. Kirkwood prevailed with a final score of 73-61 and improved to 2-0 in ICCAC play. 

The game saw four Eagles score in double-figures. Traijan Sain and Ayouba Berthe led the way for Kirkwood, each putting up 16 points and each adding 4 rebounds. Colby Dolphin went 4-6 from downtown, adding 12 points for the Eagles. This game once again saw Kirkwood taking advantage in the turnover department. Kirkwood turned the ball over 10 times compared to Southwesterns 17 and scored 20 points off those turnovers compared to the Spartans 5. 

Next up for the Eagles is a trip to Boone, IA on Saturday 12/9 where they will take on the #4 DMACC Bears in a pivotal ICCAC matchup. The game will be played at 3:00 pm.
