#8 Eagles Fall Short Against #5 Bears

Cedar Rapids, IA- In a high-stakes ICCAC showdown that electrified Johnson Hall on Wednesday night, the Kirkwood Eagles clashed with the DMACC Bears in a battle that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Despite a valiant effort, the Eagles ultimately succumbed to the Bears with a final score of 63-73.

The first half was a tightly contested affair, with both teams trading blows relentlessly. DMACC managed to eke out a 10-point lead in the closing minutes of the half, leaving Kirkwood trailing 29-39 as they headed into the locker room. However, the Eagles refused to go down without a fight.

Kirkwood came out swinging in the second half, narrowing the deficit to as little as four points. The Eagles displayed resilience and determination, but they couldn't quite overcome the hurdle posed by the Bears.

Leading the charge for the Eagles was Ayouba Berthe, whose performance saw him tally an impressive 19 points. Additionally, Zach Erwin delivered a solid performance, securing a double-double with 10 points and an impressive 12 rebounds. The Eagles won the battle of the boards, outrebounding DMACC 41 to 32.

Looking ahead, Kirkwood shifts their focus to a non-conference matchup this Saturday against Rock Valley in Rockford, IL.

The Eagles will then gear up for their last regular-season conference matchup next Wednesday at home against Ellsworth at 7:30 PM.
