Kirkwood Finishes John Wood Classic 1-1

After defeating Lake Land College last night, the Eagles went up against tournament host, John Wood Community College. John Wood came into today's match-up 2-0, receiving votes in the national poll.

Offensive woes and foul trouble, despite a valiant effort on the defensive end, made it difficult for Kirkwood to find any momentum. The largest lead the Eagles had was 4 points in the first half and John Wood went up by as many as 9 points. In the second half, both teams were in balance for 18 minutes, trading baskets and getting critical stops, but in the last two minutes, John Wood made a timely jump-shot and converted critical free throws to pull away. The Eagles would go on to drop their first game of the year by a score of 64-57.

Kirkwood Men's Basketball will take the week to regroup, get better, and travel again next Friday (3:00 PM) and Saturday (12:00 PM) to Fort Dodge and compete in the Iowa Central Classic where they will take on Dakota County Tech and Central Community College-Columbus, respectively.
