NO.1 KCC WOMEN ROLL IN SEASON OPENER
SEDALIA, Mo. - The Kirkwood women's basketball team, fresh off the 2022 national title, began the new season with a 71-32 victory over Lincoln Trail Friday in the first round of the State Fair Classic in Missouri.
The top-ranked Eagles will face State Fair in the second round Saturday at 5:30.
Jada Devine led Kirkwood with 13 points. Freshman Demetria Prewitt scored 12 points and Makayla Mau added 11.
Lincoln Trail made just 11 of 60 shots for 18.3 percent against the stingy Kirkwood defense. The Eagles shot 42.4 percent, hitting 28 of 66.
Tasia Jordan grabbed seven rebounds as the Eagles dominated the backboards, 58-35. Karsyn Stratton had five assists.
