NO.1 KCC WOMEN ARE A DANDY DOZEN
PEORIA, Ill. - The top-ranked Kirkwood women's basketball team raised its record to 12-0 Wednesday afternoon with a 64-42 victory over South Suburban in the opening round of the 41st Annual Cougar Holiday Tournament.
The Eagles led 24-9 after the first quarter and were sitting on a 35-14 bulge at halftime. Kirkwood outscored South Suburban in bench points, 34-0, with KCC reserves outscoring the Kirkwood starters 34-30.
Demetria Prewitt led the Eagles with 13 points and Tasia Jordan netted 12. Kaylee Corbin grabbed nine rebounds.
Kirkwood will face sixth-ranked Lake Land in the semifinals Thursday at noon. The tournament ends Friday.
